Because of this tough couple of years we have had, the Bible has spoken to me more now than ever before. I have come across verses in the Bible over this past year that I’m sure I have read before, but never took a 2nd glance at. I often use my Bible app on my phone, & whenever I find a verse that challenges or encourages me, I highlight it. I wanted to share some with you knowing that God can speak to you or a friend through these verses.
2 Corinthians 4.16 ESV
“So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.”
Mark 11.24 ESV
“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, & it will be yours.”
1 Peter 4.16 NLT
“But it is no shame to suffer for being a Christian. Praise God for the privilege of being called by his name!”
Psalm 56.4 NLT
“I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me?”
Psalm 27.14 NLT
“Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave & courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.”
Psalm 5.1-3 NLT
“O Lord, hear me as I pray; pay attention to my groaning. Listen to my cry for help, my King & my God, for I pray to no one but you. Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you & wait expectantly.”
Psalm 145.19 ESV
“He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry & saves them.”
2 Corinthians 4.8 ESV
“We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair.”
Psalm 116.1-2 ESV
“I love the Lord, because he has heard my voice & my pleas for mercy. Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live.”
Psalm 18.30 ESV
“This God–his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.”
Psalm 73.26 ESV
“My flesh & my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart & my portion forever.”
Psalm 142.1-7 ESV
“With my voice I cry out to the Lord; with my voice I plead for mercy to the Lord. I pour out my complaint before him; I tell my trouble before him. When my spirit faints within me, you know my way! In the path where I walk they have hidden a trap for me. Look to the right & see: there is none who takes notice of me; no refuge remains to me; no one cares for my soul. I cry to you, O Lord; I say, ‘You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.’ Attend to my cry, for I am brought very low! Deliver me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me! Bring me out of prison, that I may give thanks to your name! The righteous will surround me, for you will deal bountifully with me.”
2 Corinthians 1.3-5 NIV
“Praise be to the God & Father of compassion & the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.”
Psalm 31.9 ESV
“Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am in distress; my eye is wasted from grief; my soul & my body also.”
Exodus 23.26 ESV
“None shall miscarry or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days.”
Psalm 42.11 NLT
“Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again–my Savior & my God!”
James 1.12 NLT
“God blesses those who patiently endure testing & temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.”
One of my favorite is Jeremiah 32:17. “Nothing is too hard for God.”
Bethany, I treasure your open heart. I pray for you and Griffin every Tuesday. Several years ago, during my morning devotion the Lord gave me these verses in Job chapter 23.
10“But he knows where I am going.
And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold.
11 For I have stayed on God’s paths;
I have followed his ways and not turned aside.
12 I have not departed from his commands,
but have treasured his words more than daily food.
13 But once he has made his decision, who can change his mind?
Whatever he wants to do, he does.
14 So he will do to me whatever he has planned.
He controls my destiny.
I was praising Him and thanking Him and ten minutes later my doctor called and asked me to sit down…our Savior is faithful to draw us, lead us, prepare us, and surround us with His unrelenting love. He can be completely trusted. Shine sweet woman of God, shine on!
Thank you so much for sharing Brthany! I have highlighted many of the same verses myself as I have been going through the most difficult time of my life. God and His word is always our greatest comfort and strength.
