We have been in our new home for about 3 months now, & have been keeping a steady pace of getting things together how we want it. One of the rooms I spend the most time in is the kitchen, so I wanted to make sure we didn’t have any unfinished projects there. We did a new home build through Fulton Homes, & the kitchen is where we “upgraded” most things. I wanted a modern, seamless bright kitchen with black & brass accents. Our cabinets are white shaker style, & we added some modern black hardware after the house was built.
The countertops are a white marble-looking quartz, which I am very happy with, but they take a lot to keep clean. I knew this going into our decision with white counters, & I actually was excited about having to clean them every day. Although I’ve lightened up a bit since having a baby, I’m still a clean freak at heart. We have a Norwex envirocloth that we use all the time in the kitchen for everything from wiping the counters to the cabinets to Myler’s high chair.
Our 3rd major upgrade was getting a full backsplash. We went the more affordable route with a classic white subway tile but changed it up with the pattern. The pattern is called “basket weave,” & we’re so happy with how it turned out. We chose the 2nd to darkest grout color to contrast all of the white.
The last major decision we made for our kitchen was the “gourmet kitchen” with the oven & microwave built into the cabinets as well as having a gas stovetop. This was a major upgrade, but we know in the long run it will add value to our home, & since I love to cook, it was an easy decision.

Bethany, the kitchen is beautiful. LOVE the bigger stove top and love the wall double ovens and the nice hood. Love the black cupboard handles. Very nice. 😉
