Cabin After

Alright, you’ve waited long enough!! I first wanted to show you my re-upholstered dining room chairs for the cabin dining table. I spray painted them with a satin white finish, about two coats, and then bought new fabric for the seat cushions. The hardest part about the whole project was taking out all the staples from the fabric before. Super simple project, super big results! Here they are:

And now for the big reveal, remember the “before” cabin (look here), I give you our “limited budget” cabin remodel:

We also re-did some of the bedrooms, but I have yet to take a picture of them. Here is where I found all the decor & furniture:
Genuine leather sofa & seat – Craigslist for $250
Large vintage wall mirror – Craigslist for FREE
Rug (you can see just a corner of it) – Lowe’s for $10 >> they didn’t have anymore in stock that we wanted, so they gave us the display one for $10!!
White pots & fake plants – Ikea >> click here
TV stand & end table – I refinished for free >> DIY here
Lamp – on sale at Kohl’s for $35
White wall mirrors – Target >> large, here & small for around $5 each
Baby antlers – on sale at Kohl’s for around $18
Pillows – Kohl’s for $3, $16, & $16
Green throw blanket – Ikea >> click here

We also bought new comforter sets for the beds, and we took out the twin bed & replaced it with a queen. I bought new curtains for all the rooms as well, except the kitchen.

What do you think of the new place? I know it still has a lot of work left to do, but we will take it year by year for now. :)

Bethany, I think it looks ‘smashing!’ You did a marvelous job on a limited budget. I always wished that the living room could be remodeled to add a nice window on the solid wall facing outdoors. The room needs that extra light, and to get rid of the window air conditioning unit. I wanted that for the Blacks, and now I want it to for you guys. I LOVE the dining chairs. Beautiful choice of upholstery color and design! You did well! Love you.

    1. Thanks Marjorie,
Yes, a big window would be so nice to have!! I think the wood paneling is coming down for next year. :)

  2. Looking great Bethany! I love the pops of white and green!

    1. Thank you, Jaclyn! I have always been a fan of green. :)
